Phoenix Old World Oktoberfest
Put on your Lederhosen or Dirndls for this great Bavarian Festival!

Get in the Oktoberfest spirit by dressing up in a Hansel Adult Costume  and head to this traditional German “Volksfest” in the heart of Phoenix. Bavarian dancing and lots of good old-fashioned fun at this authentic old-world family event!

The “Festhallen” is for the young and the “young at heart”, whether you hail from Germany or central Phoenix. Sample traditional German foods and drinks, enjoy the music, and shop from a variety of authentic German products. Bring the family - there are lots of fun kid’s activities for their enjoyment.

Why not join the fun by dressing up in a Fraulein Costume while you enjoy the giant beer garden.

The Alphorn blowing contest is an all-time favorite with musicians and those with the desire try out this unique instrument. The famous Polka contest will again award the best dance performance with prizes. The very popular Warsteiner bier stein holding competition for men and women is a great crowd please. The Markit Team has worked with Meeting Planners International for years and many meeting planners who produce events all over the world. These international travellers have seasoned tipping cents (if you will) but not everyone has gratitude graciousness.

How Much Do You Know About Memorial Day?

• The first observation was on May 30, 1868 to honor the nation’s Civil War causalities by decorating their graves with flowers and flags.
• President Ulysses S. Grant presided over the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
• After World War I the meaning of Memorial Day changed from honoring civil war dead to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war.
• The last Monday of May was chosen because flowers are in bloom all over the country. 
• Memorial Day was declared a federal holiday in 1971.
• At 3 p.m. on Memorial Day, all Americans should observe a moment of remembrance and respect
• It is customary to fly flags at half-staff until noon.
